My Overnight Oats Recipe (With a Twist!)

2 months ago by Solenn

I grew up with my mom giving me oatmeal for breakfast. Even before #lifehacks was a thing, my mom already knew what she was doing cause she would serve overnight oats that require zero preparation in the morning. All the magic literally happens overnight.

I think oatmeal for breakfast doesn’t sound mind-blowing for some, but I wanna say this recipe miiight change your mind. Oats are good to have any time during the day, but what I like about taking them in the morning is that they help you, you know, go.

Obviously, it’s not a secret that oats are high in fiber. You know how when you can’t poop, you get bloated? And when you’re bloated, you feel yucky, heavy, and super not your best self. Sometimes when that happens to me, my inner zilla releases herself. Hahaha. I get irritable and init ulo cause I feel so gross and sluggish. So instead of releasing your zilla within, I think it’s much better if you release you-know-what instead. Lol.

Another thing I love about oatmeal in the morning is it’s so easy to prepare. We’re all busy peeps and like I said, this particular recipe actually doesn’t need any preparation in the morning. Just take your bowl or jar out of the fridge and eat! Watch the video below so you can see how I did it, plus my bonus Coffee + Oats Drink.

Btw, if you wanna try my recipe out, you can sign up for a NEW #SosGiveaway here and Quaker Oats will send you a box with ALL the ingredients I used if you are part of the first 50 who sign up.

My Overnight Oats Recipe

WHAT YOU NEED:

– 1 cup Quaker Whole Grain Rolled Oats

– Milk to top

– 1 Tbsp coconut cream

– 1 tsp vanilla extract

– Cinnamon to taste

– Garam masala to taste

– Nutmeg to taste

– Honey to taste

– Shredded green apples

For the toppings (optional):

– Sliced red apples

– Fresh strawberries

– Chopped nuts

– Mint

– Dates

– Maple syrup

– Shredded coconut

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1. Put the oats in a bowl and top it with your choice of milk.

2. In the same bowl, add the coconut cream, vanilla extract, your choice of spices and honey to taste, and shredded green apples.

3. You can add your toppings of choice (fresh or dried fruits, nuts, maple syrup, etc) and leave everything in the fridge overnight, then eat it on the go the next day.

Personally, what I like to do is put the toppings right before I eat it. So I leave the oatmeal in the fridge overnight, then in the morning I mix the oatmeal in a blender (the extra ground texture just tastes better I swear), and then I add the toppings.

4. For the “twist,” if you have leftovers, you can actually put the mixture in an ice cream container or an ice tray and make popsicles out of it! Para sulit and nothing is sayang. Hahaha.

BONUS RECIPE: Coffee + Oats Drink

You can also pair your overnight oats with this drink! If you have probs with digestion, this can help.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee (chill it first)

– Ice

– 1/2 cup milk

– 1 banana, sliced

– 1/4 cup Quaker Whole Grain Rolled Oats

– Peanut butter to taste

For the toppings (optional):

– Sliced bananas

– Cacao nibs

– Chia seeds

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1. Put the chilled brewed coffee, ice, milk, sliced bananas, oats, and peanut butter in a blender and blend!

2. Top it with your toppings of choice or just drink it as is.
